Welcome to Yacck - we hope you have great pleasure in reading the stories from the past and would love you to make positive comments for everyone to enjoy. The Yacck Team.
Twenty year old Invercargill karate exponent Tony Reihana (right) had recently returned from a world karate training camp in the United States.
Reihana was a first kyu brown belt and was one of New Zealand's biggest group to ever make the trip.
The camp involved three weeks of basic training for the discipline with five to six hours a day spent under instruction from senior instructors.
Reihana is pictured above with Invercargill instructor Bill Coulston, who said that New Zealand's standard of karate was as good as anywhere in the world.
