Central II defeated High School the leading team in the senior hockey competition in 1946. It was High School's first loss for the season which made the competition more interesting. This meant that three teams were now in a position to take the honours.
Donaldson from School scored the first goal, which came from a quick ball by Drees. Aitchison then scored from a penalty corner.
Semmens scored the first goal for Central just before half time.
In the second half J. Low and Nielson scored for Central.
A.J. Low and Greenfield were the best of the Central backs. They proved solid in defence and were quick to any opportunities offered.
D. B. Semmens was the best of the Central forwards with Ott being the best of the School forwards, and Crawford and Robinson the best of their backs.
Civil Service Red v Collegiate Gold
A draw was a good indication of the game and the play was very even. Collegiate Gold took the early lead and were ahead 3-1 at half time. Civil Service came out stronger after half time and managed to score 4 goals to Collegiate's 2.
For Civil Service, P. D. Skelt was the best of the backs, with Pettigrew and Ott were the best of the forwards.
Sinclair was outstanding for Collegiate and scored all the goals, and was well supported by J. McCure and Hunt.
