G. Patterson most improved wrestler in Invercargill....1936..

It was 1936 and the Southland Wrestling Club held a championship tournament in the clubrooms which was well attended.
The belts were evenly contested which made it good watching.  The final of the welterweight championship between G. Patterson and A. Stewart was the most interesting with the former getting the decision after three good rounds.

L. Frampton won the Mr A. Edward's medal for the most improved and the Holding Shield for the best all rounder wrestler went to G. Patterson.  The Mr J. Doe's gold medal for the most scientific wrestler was awarded to A.McGregor, who had proved himself to be a most versatile and clever wrestler.
In the light-weight class, A. McGregor, who was overweight, forfeited the Moffett Challenge Cup to L. Wills, who was not challenged.
