The Wallis Shield stayed in Wyndham's clubrooms for another year when they beat Pirate gold team 17-6.
The young Pirates team was unable to combat Wyndham's forward power especially in the first half and with good  tactical kicking. The game was only two minutes old when the Pirates backs were caught off side from a lineout and full back George taylor kicked the penalty goal from 39 M out.  Wyndham were then penalised for having their hands in the ruck and Malcolm Dewe was unable to land the kick from a similary position to his opposite.
By this stage the Wyndham forward had already stamped their presence on the game as a unit winning good ruck ball and with guy Davis dominating the lineouts Pirates was finding it difficult to get into the game.
John Hellier, Wyndham's first five eight was putting up plenty of high ball and Pirates found this hard to see coming out of the sun.  Centre Barry Stewart was first to score in a scramble to a ball which was kicked over the line.  In the second try Barry Todd, 2nd five eight put up a high kick to the wing where Russell Brocks was on hand to gather it in short of the line and dive over for the try.
The second half saw a much better performance from Pirates as they began to win more lineout ball rhough No. 8 Alister Walker playing at the front and Don Sutherland at the back.  Between Lyall McKenzie and Dewe four penalty attempts were missed, although they were fom long distances.
One player that stood out in the Wyndham effort was George Taylor who was solid as a rock at full back .  No 8 Bruce Robertson was a bit quieter than normal but the whole Wyndham forward pack drove well as a unit.  Walker was the pick of the Pirates pack and he was into everything.
