Grace Wins Game For Collegiate in 1964..Invercargill

Star's two tries (one converted) was not good enought to beat three penalty goals in its game against Collegiate in the curtain-raiser at Rugby Park.  One of Star's try came from R. Gardiner who cut through the defence and made the overlap to L. Bell to top off the run with the try.  It was Bell for the next try that who raced in from the short side wing and joined the backs and passed to C. Busby (centre) who straightened up and sent E. Sinclair across at the corner.  He raced round to score behind the posts.  H. Harris converted.
Collegiate responded and got near enough for P. Grace to kick the first of three penalties.  It looked like Star was going to chalk up another win but Grace kicked another penalty goal and got Collegiate back in the game. 
At 29 minutes Star infringed again and Grace sent a low one over the bar to give Collegiate the victory 9-8.

Wrights Bush Trounces Winton 1964...

Wrights Bush took the honours in its game with Winton to score its first win in the Hamilton Shield series.

It was another big score for Central Star over Central Pirates at Browns winning 30-9.
