A social evening was held in the Methodist Church with the proceeds being in aid of foreign missions.  Games were played, and the two competitions were held, these being won by Misses Ruby Searle (cake) and Audrey Butler (lucky parcel).  After supper Mr R. R. Walker took the opportunity of wishing Miss Edith Hill bon voyage and au revoir prior to her departure for Australia, and Mr A White supported his remarks.  Miss Doris Harrington on behalf of the Bible Class members, said they would miss Miss Hill from the class. She trusted the departing guests would have a good holiday and come back fit to take up her duties again. "For she is a jolly good fellow " was then sung.
There was a good attendance of members and friends at the annual wind-up concert of the Band of Hope for the season, when  Mr John Fisher presided.  A good programme of items was given by the members and the performs reflected credit on their tutors.  Mesdames Gutschlag and Brooker and Miss Lily Maxwell.  The accompaniments were played by Mrs R. James, Miss Brooker and Mr E. Jellyman.  The following items were given: Choruses, Band of Hope members; recitations, Allan Fisher, Jessie Anderson, Alison Brown, Raymond Wesney and Isla Anderson; songs,  Phyllis Gutschlag, Molly Gutschlag, Zora Sutherland and Nancy Maxwell; mouth organ solo, Alison Angus; American tap dance, Agnes Paulin, Alison Angus, Rowena James and Nancy Maxwell; dialogue, Allan and Ian Sutherland and Raymond Kirk; duet, Zora Sutherland and Nancy Maxwell song, Dorothy Jellyman, Isla Anderson, Nancy Gutschlag and Mary Cartwright; diaglogue. Nancy and Molly Gutschlag, Lex Liddell and Dave Mackie; dance, Alison Brown; flag song, Nancy Maxwell, Dorothy Jellyman, Joyce Thomson, Mary Cartwright, Molly and Phyllis Gutschlag and Isla Anderson; duet, Connie and Margaret Jellyman; dialogue.  Arthur Cartwright, Graham Sutherland, Keith Browning, Allan Sutherland, Owen Aitken, Ian Sutherland, Raymond Kirk, Raymond Wesney, Molly Gutschlag and Dave Mackie; song and dance, Miss Lily Maxwell, duet.
Supper was provided by the ladies and prior to the conclusion of the concert the chairman took the opportunity to thank the ladies of the W.C.T.U. who had been responsible for the training of the children, and paid a tribute to those who year after year endeavoured to inculcate into the minds of the children the principles of temperance, which went to make for better citizens.  Mr Fisher also referred to the fact that the branch had won two banners for 1935 for having the largest number of children enrolled on the Cradle Roll for Southland.
DAIRY FACTORY:
The intake at the local diary factory has now reached 4755 gallons, which is 100 gallons below last year's figures at the same date.  The daily manufacture of cheese has passed the two-ton mark.  The Cooperative calf pool is still being strongly supported.  Monday's collection in the Otautau district being 120.  The grand total is well ahead of last year.
