Seniors
We beat cCollegiate at Lindisfarne in a high scoring scramble on a muddy ground in bitterly cold conditions.  The game was marred by the constant chatter of the Star team and the tendency of some Star backs to goo too far on their own until they were bagged. In fact the Start team were only a shadow of the team the week before with no players really standing out except for Kevin Stevens who played his usual hard game and Ron Cardno who again kicked well.
Under 20's
Had a narrow win over Collegiate in a clean hard fought game. The boys did  not go too well in the beginning and settled down later and recovered well to snatch a victory in the final minutes of the game.  Rama Goffe landing a vital conversion to seal the game.  The forwards more than held their own but the backs lacked in attacking ability though they were sound on defence.  Trevor Duggan was the player of the day.
This team has made a terrific improvement since the start of the season and now that they are fit and playing as a team and not as individuals they should win more games this year.  They are a credit to coach Brian Anderson, who has been mainly responsible for bringing these boys to their present state of fitness.
Under 17's
Went down to Southland College, but for a team that lost 64-6 last time, they played them these young players proved that they can do it.
In the quagmire at Waverley Park, no ground was given by the forwards and it was just handling errors and bad luck that caused the points to mount. Again Robert McKay shone in the forwards with able assistant form the seven others.  In the backs the effort was a combined one with equal credit going to all.  It was pleasing to see a marked improvement in tackling.  Perhaps with a few more at training, these boys could face up to stronger oppostion with more confidence to win as the natural ability is already there.
The seconds.
Were unlucky to go down to Old Boys by one point.  The game could have easily had been won if Grant Taylor, usually so reliable had not missed a couple of simple kicks.  You probably took them too cheaply - Grant and I be if they had of been back hat halfway you would have got them.
