Centralisation of racing in 1972 was frustrating for all racing clubs and Mr Gordon McKenzie at the Wyndham racing club annual meeting stressed that it was important that the two codes stick together to ensure the longetivity of the Wyndham track.
Mr McKenzie went on to say that the track was leased from the Wyndham Town Council with the right of renewal in 1979.
The two codes shared the expenses of operating the race course with the galloping paying two fifths and the trotting three fifths.
Another item discusssed in 1972 was the need to bring the starting time for the New Year Day meeting later as the 11.30 start time was too early for the average punter.
A. E. Didham, the Wingatui trainer was the guest speaker and spoke about his recent trips to Australia.
Officers elected were: President, G. D. McKenzie, Vice President, W. A. McDonald, committee, Mr J. C. Cook, S. W. Gray, G. S. McKenzie, B. R. Hamilton, J. G. McKay, F. A. Stewart.
