We are going to have a look at 1946, as Gordon has sent me some clips from July 1st 1946 where it was the last matches of the second round of the Eastern District Rugby competition.
Wyndham played Albion at Gore and the game was played at a fast and furious pace.
The teams were:
Wyndham:  W. Gruther, Henderson, G. McKay, M. Bulling, H. Hunter, B. Hunter, L. Milne, F. Bulling, O. Hunter, P. Walsh, E. Laurie, E. Rabbage, Richards, Jenning, Carswell.
Albion:  Baty, Steel, Reynolds, Walsh, Dempster, McKinnell, Wyeth, Heads, Monaghan, Spittle, Williams, P. Gentle, R. Gentle, Clark.

Albion looked like the favourites as their back line was performing well.
The Wyndham forwards led by Walsh and Laurie were the catalyst though in the game,.
Albion started well and almost scored from a kick off but Gruther managed to force the ball first.
From the kick off the Wyndham forwards got to the ball first and broke through the defence but lost the ball for Reynolds to pick up run 40 yards and then passed inside to Walsh.  From a scrum Albion secured the ball, and sent it through the chain, but Steel was eventually tackled.
A penalty was awarded, but McKinnell missed an easy target.
From a loose ruck, Reynolds again beat the defence and passed to Walsh who  had a clear run, but he dropped the ball.
It was all Albion at this part of the game, Dempster cut back inside and was held up on the line, a scrum was formed and Monaghan dived from the base and scored.
McKinnell converted - Albion 5 - Wyndham 0.
Steel put Albion on the attack again and threw a long pass to Henderson, who fumbled it.  A scrum was won and A. Wyeth passed to McKinnell who got through the gap without being touched and scored.
In the next five minutes, P. Walsh for Wyndham kicked two penalty goals, which were awarded from scrum infringements.
This got Wyndham's tail up and they played with a lot more purpose and managed to keep Albion in their own 25.
Baty miskicked and ball went across field and behind the line for Bulling to score.
With the scores at 14-14 and minutes to go, Walsh for Albion put up a high kick, the Wyndham forwards broke through and kicked over the line.
Baty failed to force the ball and O. Hunter dived on the ball to score.
The final score Wyndham 17 Albion 14.
