Wayne and Kevin McCallum steal show when Central beat Western in 1986....

The Sports Trust cup in 1986 was going to have a great finish with Central beating Western this meant that it left them along with Eastern unbeaten.  The half time score was 15-0 with Central dominating all facets of play.
Central's half back Wayne McCallum was instrumental in his team's win and proved that he is still a very capable half back.  Wayne had played for Southland in 1982 and was still good enough to be there.  McCallum controlled the game to precision and he was virtually allowed to do what he wanted.
In saying this his brother, Kevin McCallum, at full back was in form as well and you could more or less have said it was the "McCallum" show.  Kevin's precise kicking gave his team the first two tries that were scored by Jimmy Sinclair and David Moynihan.  McCallum was brave under the high ball and his safe hands made gave his team the confidence to try different things.
Gerry Brown (centre) for Western gave a sterling performance and used his pace and quick feet to find the gap but sadly for him the support just wasnt there and more often than not he would have to go to ground as he had not other option.
Western's half back Gerard Adams used his long passes to try and give his outside backs a head start on their opposites.
Bruce Lewis, Ian Harding and Kevin McNaught were good in the tight for Central and it was a pity that Frank Carran and Russell Davidson, the Western loosies could not tie up their opposites.
Trevor Bokser for Western made his usual charges up field, but to no avail.
Central: David Moynihan, Ian Harding and David Ward and Jimmy Sinclair (1) Kevin McCallum (1PG), Grant Anderson (1Con) (1PG) Greg Keen (1DG)
Western: Gerry Brown (1) Eric Todd (1con)
