Welcome to Yacck - we hope you have great pleasure in reading the stories from the past and would love you to make positive comments for everyone to enjoy. The Yacck Team.
Waiau Star was too good for Wrights Bush with a 6-0 win. The game was played at Wrights Bush and they had no excuses for the loss except, they probably let Waiau Star play the better game in the conditions.
Players for Waiau Star in Alan Pennicott (fullback/firstfive), Dave McGibbon (halfback) and Jimmy White (No. 8) were all safe with the greasy ball and the score could have been better for Waiau Star if Pennicott had kicked all his attempts.
Walter Clark was the outstanding Waiau Star forward with winning good lineout ball for his backs and was not afraid to get into the dark places.
John Hall led his Bush team by example and even though he wanted more from them, the team did not deliver. The backline without John Ellis lacked penetration and there was little brain power used to combat Waiau Star.
