PictureTony Bennett from Pirates who got "player of the day".
Senior Reserve:
After holding Pirates well into the wind to be only 0-7 down at half time, deteriorated, and plunged to a 0-31 loss.  There was no accounting for the sudden loss of form and I can only guess at a lack of discipline.  The coach summed it up when he announced his player of the day to supporter Shirley Todd.

PictureGeorge Robinson "sick of playing No. 8" and asked to play on the wing......
Paul Scobie got plenty of lineout ball while Grant Hannon (hooker) excelled in tidying up.  Eddie Siva was the only back to impress both on attack and defence.
Pirates reply:
You all gave your guts for the last quarter hour of the game against Star.  Tries were scored by old timer, Wayne Belesky, Colin Telfer, Bruce Campbell, Noddy McCulloch, and George "Boy" Robinson, who by the way is sick and tired of playing No. 8 and asked John if he could play on the wing next Saturday.  11 points from the boot of Casey Hughes giving Pirates a 31-0 win.  Thanks to Jonathon Tucker the referee.   Player of the day was Tony Bennett.

Under 23:
Defeated Collegiate convincingly by 22-0 and int he process gave an impressive fifteen man display.  Ewan Waddell gave the team a great start with a penalty and a drop in the first five minutes.  This was followed by a great forward rush, culminating in a Rusty Blanch try.  Dean  Anglem and Tony Lawlor were both tops in the hard driving play.  Michael Parry again gave great service and is destined for higher honours. Rod McLeod in midfield and Geoff McMillan ran stronly.  Winger Craig Drummond fielded  well on defence as did full-back "Beef" McLellan.

Under 20:
Down 0-8 at half time and holding the strong S.B.H.S. First XV well into the second half, collapsed to surrender three late tries and finally go down 0-28.  Barry Tangney contested lineout and maul ball hotly.  Tony O'Driscoll took good ball at No. 6.  The backs missed the steady influence of Kevin Harridine (injured) but Vaughan Stornach covered and tackled well.  Michael Turner also turned in a tidy game at second five eight.

Congratulations to: Brian McKechnie, Alan Monaghan, Barry Flynn and Shaun Flynn (town seniors)
Tony Lawlor, Ewen Waddell and Dean Anglem (U20 town)
Rusty Blanch, Shane Edmund (U 18 town).
