St Marys beats Rata in Basketball (netball) 1946.......

Continuing with the 1946 Basketball.  The most improved team in the competition, Rata beat St Marys 18-15.  Shirley Berridge, in spite of her size made many good interceptions in the Rata defence third, while Pat Rea netted some good goals.
Joyce Macdonald and Laila Cross worked well for St Marys.

Miss D. Swift was the referee.

Bluff v Pirates

This game was very evenly matched.  For Pirates the most oustanding players were; D. Radka and J. Marshall in the defence and Hazel Wallace in the forwards.
S. Burtenshaw was the outstanding forward for Bluff.
The score of 15-15 draw was a good indication of the game.

Collegiate v Makarewa

Makarewa was behind by 8-4 at half time and after a slow first half, both teams came alive and the final scored ended up at 19-14 to Collegiate.
Moira Jensen was back to her old self for Collegiate on defence, and Doreen Hope in the forwards.  
E. Chisholm played well for Makarewa and was well supported by J. Sainsbury.
