Hotspurs went down to United in the Donald Gray Memorial Cup, after several weeks of not being beaten. Hotspurs relied on their normal tight defence and did not play three backs as in their previous games. The forwards did not combine well this week and therefore could not break up the United defence.
United opened the scoring when Kooy made a quick shot to the goal, just before halftime. Hotspurs, Neville Hoskin, caught the ball and pulled it back but referee Mr C. C. Ferguson awarded the goal.
After 10 minutes of play in the second half Hotspur's player N. McLeod, evened the score. United took the lead again when A. Schins scored with a penalty.
Rovers beat Thistle 2-1 in a bright and open game. Responsible for many of Rovers movements were P. de Ruyter, S. de Ruyter, and J. Schafer.
For Thistle, J. McLean, J. Blackburn, and D. McMurdo were outstanding.
P. de Ruyter scored Rover's first goal, but H. McKinnel equalised for Thistle when he scored a snap goal after a high lob was deflected by the Rover's keeper, D. Jasperes.
Rovers forged ahead again halfway through the second half, when N. de Ruyter hit the post, with a long ground shot and G. Wyering scored.
Brigadiers scored an easy win over Queens Park with Robb, Malcolm and Durst scoring.
