Shona Brooks from Southland wins U14 Otago title in 1986......

Table Tennis juniors were involved in the Otago championships in 1986 and more often than not were the bridesmaid in all grades.  Shona Brooks though won the U14 girl's singles final in straight sets.

Debbie Garrett and Vicki Garrett won the 
 Valerie Henderson won the U14 girl's doubles and Shona Brooks partnered up with Brendon Sparrow to win the U14 combined doubles.  
Eight seed Chris Carlaw made the third round but he lost to Graeme Lamb of Canterbury.
Chris teamed up with William Brooks for the doubles and got through to the semi-finals where they lost.
Ngiare Garrett in the over 35's section lost to Pam Shadbolt of Canterbury and Ron Garrett lost to Ron Foster (Otago, who eventually won the title, and his partner in the doubles Martin Duffy (Otago) got through to the final but they werent good enough.
Kathryn Cook did well to reach the final of the U21's and in a close game lost to Jennifer Lawn 17-21 and 20-22.
