Shona Brocks a Southland U 15 player looking forward to NZ schools championships in 1983........5/18/2016 The finals of the Southland section of the New Zealand school's team championships was held in Invercargill in 1983. James Hargest team of junior representative players, Robert Old and Jane Bodkin with a relatively strong third in Peter Boon was the hardest team to beat.
Southland Boys' High School team led by Nguyan Chau and David Sutherland was a team that could have upset James Hargest. Kingswell led by Daryl Holden and Kathryn Crook. Other teams were: Cargill - Mark Corson, Trish Beattie and Megan Little. Menzie College - Glen Grieve, Megan Ward and Sue Ward,Greg Falconer, Shona Brocks. Central Southland College - Grant Catto. Tweedsmuir - Murray Wells, Lyndon Copeland and Michael Corson. Collingwood - Bernard Joyce, the strongest player that was competing. Lithgow - Craig Henderson, Debra King and Jason Milne. St Patricks - Eric Slayter, Andrew Dixon, Paul Mullin. St Theresa's Bede Quill, Simon Forde, Simon Thompson and Chris Bonish. Reference: Schools Vying For Table Tennis Honours.
