Will Lynda Mary complete the double at Riverton by winning the Riverton Cup after earlier winning the Invercargill Cup.
The Bellborough mare working solo was untroubled to reel of 800 metres 40 feet out on the course proper, in 50 sec the last 600 in 37.2.5
Lynda Mary was ridden by Riverton apprentice, Allan Tait who has the ride on her for the Riverton Cup. Owner-Trainer, Mr Ian Clark is please with the way the horse is going after winning the Wairio Cup on this track 2 weeks ago. Since that win he has not galloped her much but has stuck to the beach and said yesterday's gallop was a good sharpener and is unsure whether he would gallop her again before Saturday. Clark is confident that Lynda Mary will come through the race fine and well enough to contest the Tweedie Memorial on the third day and then the Great Autumn at Riccarton the following Saturday.
Loch Linnhie was a picture when he was galloping with his stable-mate and Riverton Cup acceptor Lady Claymore. the pair and the worst for weights is Loch Linnhie, set off from the 1800 metres being clocked at a grand 1.18.45for the last 800 M in 52 sec.
With the trestles 40 feet out it is probably a good seme-final trial by the Simper Lodge pair.
Robyn's Lad who has had a good long lead up starting back at Labour weekend for Saturday's Great Western looked a picture when parading.
