Riverton clear lead in Central Western competition in 1975....

Central Pirates lost to Riverton in 1975 giving them the latter the lead in the Central-Western competition. Ironically Riverton is the only team to have won all their games and Central Pirates is yet to secure a win.

Riverton dominated the first half in the wet conditions at home winning 17-0.  Forwards, Neil Reeves, John Bailey and Michael Ward won their fair share of ball but the Riverton backs could not, for how ever hard they tried, get past the Central Pirate's defence.
Gus Guise and Stewart Heath tried hard to find the gaps but all they could manage to achieve was three penalty attempts by prop Norman Cleaver without any success.  Hooker Tom Fairbairn won at least three tightheads and was also effective in his general play round the field.  Bob List and Russell Dyet made the opposites work hard and rose to the challenge of the Riverton pack.  All Riverton backs handled the greasy ball well and made 50 mtrs weaving through the Central Pirate's defence and was awarded a try by Murray Heath.
