Ray Hibbs breaks oyster opening record in 1986......

Wow it was great news in 1986, when Ray Hibbs missed out on the Guiness Book of Records attempt - he came back and after five attempts set a new world record of 2.44.9.
Mr Wayne Fairweather was the confident one that knew Ray could do it, he just had to tweak a few techniques as he was nearly there.  All it took was a couple of hard ones amongst the 100 oysters he had to open so it was a case of just trying and trying again.
On the fifth attempt the 100 oysters were laid out again and to his credit Ray did not give up hope and broke the record by 6/10 of a second.
Ray was not the only opener attempting the record as Mike Racz also gave it a go but was only outside the new mark by 2 seconds.
