Welcome to Yacck - we hope you have great pleasure in reading the stories from the past and would love you to make positive comments for everyone to enjoy. The Yacck Team.
Powerboat Marathon was held in Invercargill in 1976 and the likes of Phillip Mills who drove "Wrangler" would have been the favourite as he had won the Queenstown marathon only three weeks previous.
"Wrangler" was capable of hitting 70 mph and the race is divided into different classes, depending on the horsepower of the boat.
The most popular class for Southlanders is the D class, but entries are down this year, which has probably been because of the cost of the sport.
Neil Williams, Rick Stirling and Kevin Sexton had all won South Island driver of the year awards.(Nicholson, 1986).
Sorry, but can someone write a story about this as it is out of my league!!!! (in other words I dont know what I am talking about.)
