I thought this was kind of interesting since we are talking about 1959.  I remember that oysters went up approx 20% this year which was confirmed by Mr Mike Farrington, the president of the Fish Retailers Association.
Oysters were selling for 80 cents a dozen raw and 96 cents a dozen cooked. Mike Farrington had said that retailers had tried to keep prices down as much as possible but did not think that people would be too worried about the 12 cents rise.
The inspector for Fisheries Mr J. Clausen all 23 boats went to sea on the opening day.  All got their quota of 85 sacks.
