Mrs D. Vanderley elected as president of Birthright, Southland 1970.

Mr D.J. Vanderley of Waimatua was elected the first woman president of Birthright, Southland in 1970.
She is only one of three woman to hold the presidential office in the New Zealand organisation
Mrs Vanderley is the second person in her family to be president of Birthright here in Southland.
Her brother Mr Alec Lange was a foundation member, and held office as president for two years.
Mr Lange was president of the Invercargill Jaycees 12 years ago when Jaycess sponsored Birthright here.  
She replaces Mr Michael J. Scott who has held office for the past 18 months during which time Birthright grew from  strength to strength.
Mr Scott leaves Invercargill soon on a promotion to Auckland and was thanked at the meeting for all he had done.
Birthright works with families to facilitate the growth of confidence, skills and resilience within the family unit and its individual members.
