Maralda O'Rourke of Invercargill aged 16, attended a national netball coaching school in Dunedin after being nominated by the Southland Netball Association as their "most promising player".   Maralda plays goal attack in the St Catherines B.  Thirty six girls attended the school which was taken by coaches, Louis Muir, Francis Granger, Keith Brown and Lee Sycamore.  Wendy Kennedy was put forward as Southland Country's representative.  However too many were entered and she missed out on the ballot.
