Lloyd Wyeth tried hard to stop Alan Petterson win his sixth consecutive Wyndham golf tournament in 1981.  There was some great golf played by both players, unfortunatley, Lloyd consistently hit his second drive a shade heavy too day, which was not like him, and then had to chip and put to make par.  Alan's putting was also off this day and if he had putted half as good he would have won by a lot more.
Two sixth formers, where  Bryan Dynes beat Glen Sutherland at the 35th hole, Dynes trailed for most of the day.  With pressure on, both boys missed shots and with the match square after the 29th hole, and both trying for a birdie with 12 feet put, Dynes holed his and Sutherland missed which was the difference.  Dynes took the next and at the par 3 was short and chipped 6 past the pin, while Sutherland on the green putted well short. Three down he won back the next with a good par. Both boys were on the green at Waterloo, but Sutherland could not claim his third birdie at this hole, Dynes left his putt dead to take the title, and he was only one over the card for the final 8 holes.
In the Junior A final, Rex Moffat played Keith Marshall, who was at front all day except for the first hole that Moffat won.  Moffat was unable to press home his advantage when Marshall was in trouble and was eventually beaten 4 and 2.
The handicap was special in the fact that Bryan Dynes and Glen Sutherland ended up on opposite sides of the draw in the main event while their fathers Murray and George made the plate final. Murray receiving 5 strokes was too consistent over the last few holes to be George 2 and 1.
Dynes played good golf to win his first round but went down to Neil Welsh in the next.  Sutherland won his first round at the 22nd after losing three of the first four holes to Alan Thomson, led all the way against Alan Petterson, and conceding four shots to Wattie Smith, was still down with three to play and won on the 18th.  The lead see-sawed for seven holes in the final before Sutherland won 6 in a row, to beat Welsh 6 and 5.
With Russell Stewart in the junior b final the juniors have had a great year.
Jacqueline Hewat won her 15th silver division championship.  She played fine golf in the morning to beat Mona Petterson, by five holes, Mona fought back stronly to close the gap to 2 but eventually lost 3 and 2.
Joy Dynes completed a family double when she beat Robyn Youngson 3 and 2 in the bronze.  Joy was 5 up after 19 holes, Robyn played well and parred 4 holes in a row but could not quite finish to win.
Judith Hunter a newcomer to the game beat Pam McDonnell in the 18 hole bronze B final.  Both women played some fine golf but Judith edged ahead to win 3 and 2.
The bronze C was won 4 and 3 by Isobel Lennon and who led Betty Geary 2 up at the turn.  Betty Geary gained her handicap last week.
