Kevin Laidlaw still playing great rugby for Nightcaps in 1968....

Nightcaps was at the top of the Central Western, senior rugby table in 1968 and ensured it stayed there with a convincing win over Winton 22-3.

The highlight of the game was the inclusion in the team of Kevin Laidlaw, who had played 69 games for Southland, with the last one being in 1962. It was the old rugby head that put his team on top.  Playing at first five eight he straightened play up every time and ensured the ball got through the back line and out to the wingers.  
Laidlaw also made some strong breaks and took every opportunity that Winton gave him such as missing tackles.
After half time Winton gave some more power in the forwards and posted one of their pack out in the back line which halted Nightcaps to just two tries during the 40 minutes.
M. Gazzard, D. Greer and M. Klemick all played well for Nightcaps  and J. B. Portcous and K. McNaught toiled hard for Winton.
