Kaye McPhedran and Paula McDiarmod give Brigadiers a win over St Marys in 1975...........

The Netball was better in the second round in 1975 but conditions were bitterly cold.  The Makarewa game was close despite the score 28-20 to Rata.

Rata's shoots Kaye McPhedran and Paula McDiarmod had great understanding allowing them to pass the ball amongst themselves in the goal circle until they got into a comfortable position to shoot.  Their accurate shooting gave them a half time lead of 16-8.  In the second half Makarewa's defence tightened up giving them a bit of a breather and their shot Louise Smith, shot some excellent goals and kept the Rata defence on the hop. Makarewa had left its run too late although they drew the second half.
Brigadier's Pam Egan was excellent in defence for her team with her team mate June Caird and it was this that gave them the edge at half time 12-7.  St Mary's Frances Craig and Mary Templeton worked hard for their team but Brigadiers mid court with Barbara Anglem was more polished by feeding a better ball to her shoots.  
St Mary's wing attack, Doreena Fowler played tirelessly making some good intercepts. The final score was 18-11 to Brigadiers.
