Brigadiers scored a narrow win over Muskettes in the womens basketball game.  The game was very slow and as you can tell by the score 39-38 but it was controlled basketball.  The second half was exciting and Brigadiers was in the lead by 11 points
but Muskettes wasnt going to make it that easy for them and scored 6 quick points to energise the game.  Brigadiers was ahead at half time by 2 points.  The last few minutes of the game saw both teams neck and neck, and both had eight fouls.  A foul on a Brigadiers player in the 18th minute of the second half saw two free throws given which gave them a one  point lead.  A basket to Muskettes with 20 seconds to go saw it go one ahead.  Brigadiers knowing they were running out of time ran the ball quickly from the back of the court and an excellent long shot from Lyn Chamberlain saw them take the game.
Charlene Manaena had a great game for Brigadiers scoring 16 points, while Chamberlain netted 10, Stephanie Christie scored 15 points for Muskettes and Kaye Balloch seven.
Rata beat Brigadiers Gold in the women's A grade, this was another exciting game with both teams 30 all at half time.
Rata scrambled well and gained a lot of possession to score their goals, Rata's rebounding was a skill that stood out in this game and especially that of D. Barnes.  Brigadiers Gold fought well throughout the match but was unable to finish their good work.  This was probably due to the young and inexperienced side.  Pere Tait had a good game for Rata scoring 18 points and Liz Corkery with 16 points.
For Brigadiers, P Flanders scored 16 points and D Dyer 8 points.
MENS - The game between Cosmopolitan and Cubs resulted in 61-43 to Cosmos.  Cubs fought well against the experienced Cosmos team and were only 11 points down at half time.  30-19.  Although scoring by both teams in the second half was close,
the 11 point buffer, Cosmos had was enough to give it the win.  Point Scorers for Cosmos was Trevor Ryder (20) Russell Frisby (10) and Ian Boniface (10)
Old Boys beat Marist 74-46 which was a fast and aggressive game with plenty of action under the hoops.  Old Boys had the experience and height on their side and used this to make fast breaks from the end of the court.  Old Boys was up by 17 points at half time with a score of 33-16.  Marist took a the whole first half to warm up and get into the game, but woke up in the second half which saw them passing long and accurate to get their forwards under the goal.  Maurice Corkery scored well for Old Boys with (20) and John Laskerwitz with (15).
Greg Newton (16) for Marist and Kevin Wheeler (13).
