Welcome to Yacck - we hope you have great pleasure in reading the stories from the past and would love you to make positive comments for everyone to enjoy. The Yacck Team.
Southland and Otago cyclists took part in a series of Empire Games trials covering 62 miles from Milton to Lawrence return. The two men selectors will be watching are K. Hastie (Dunedin) and L. Fraser (Invercargill).
These two young riders have produced some fine rides over the season but Fraser has not competed in anything greater than 50 miles. Other notable riders will be L. Fleming (Invercargill), last year's 100 mile round the gorges winner and B. Lynn (Dunedin) one of the toughest riders in New Zealand at the moment, and returned to winning form the previous weekend on the Balclutha to Dunedin race.
J. Coker, R. Henderson, and C. Flowers all of Dunedin and G. Howie of Invercargill all look good enough as they have all done well in the 50 mile races.
R. Peek of Invercargill unfortunately has been dogged by punctures and hopefully this time he can show his worth.
A good field of riders is expected to show up for the Lochiel return race starting at the Waihopai bridge and many young juniors will have the chance to show what they are made off. One of those is W. Hoffman who will be watched with great interest.
