F. Carter, skip for Kew Bowls got highest score for non-qualifier in 1983........

 Yacck - Yes we know and trying to work out way through the stories. Here                 goes.

Professional Bowls saw the single draw finalised in 1983.  It was decided that the qualifiers would play an elimination round at Northend and Te Rangi.  

Three teams qualified and in the play-off the winners were:
Mavis Daly, Ann Browning, Ernie Watson and Bob Browning (Waikiwi)
Jessie Whyte, Forence Hancox, Albie Whyte, Dick Hancox.
Eliminated were: Clarice Muir, Murray Terry, Bob Topping and Gordon Muir.

Six teams qualified at a recent Kew Bowl tournament;
B. Lamb, R. Hughes, P. Paulin, W. Kane, Les Tomlins, C. Carr, B. Lamb, P. Paulin.
The final over 5 ends was won by Ken White, Lew Winsloe, Frank Kernaghan and Les Tomlins.  They beat: Maurice Spencer, Ballantine Horn, Bill Stewart and Brian Lamb.

The Winton Central Club recently had two tournaments and the first which was a mixed won by: V. Wood, Mrs Austin, Mrs Finn, and N. Corcoran (skip)
Second was H. Zwies, N. Frew, Mrs Frew and E. McFadizen.
Third was: Mrs Cox, Mrs Souness, A. Reid and E. O'Connor.
In their Sunday tournament four teams qualified:
R. Valentine, K. Schwass, R. Givson and B. Gibson (Police)
J. Fawcett, B. Harvey, C. Dawson, B. Harvey (Nightcaps)
G. Gatley, L. Robb, C. Taylor, L. McKerchar (Winton RSA),
R. Hughes, P. Johnson, J. Flynn (sen) and J. Flynn (jun).
In the final over five ends, B. Gibson 6 beat L. McKerchar 4..
The prize for the highest score for non qualifiers was F. Carter (Kew)
