Doreen Lange named as coach for Southland Netball seniors in 1983....

Doreen Lange's name was well known in  Southland Netball and was re-elected as coach of the senior team in 1983. She had previously coached the Southland senior team in 1959-1961 and 1978-1980.

She had shifted to Alexandra but the President of Southland Netball was confident this would not hinder her coaching ability.
Jenny Mason of Invercargill assisted with the selection of the team.
Monica Burns did not put her name in the hat as she was attending the World Championships in Singapore.
Burns was responsible for taking the team back to first grade in 1981, after ten years in second grade.
Under 20's coach was Nancy Buchanan and selector Gail Fletcher.
Robyn Broughton was selected as coach of the under 18, with Lynley Huntly and Valmai Brown as seclectors.
Davina Wood coached the under 16 with Cherry Wilson and Diane Reefman as selectors.
