Debutantes of Riverton come out in 1957...

The Empire Theatre, Riverton, was gaily decorated with greenery and streamers in the school colours of green and gold for the annual debutante ball held by the Riverton District High School.

Debutantes were piped into the hall by Mr J. Miller, of Thornbury, and were presented to Mr and Mrs A.N. Murray (black sequined trim).
Included in the official party were the Mayor of Riverton, Mr E.N. Andrews, and Mrs Andrews (black taffeta with stiffened net overdress)
the rector, Mr R.M. Hanning and Mrs Hanning (lavender tie silk) and the president of the ex-pupil association Mr J.T Stuart and Mrs Stuart (Ming blue brocade). The chaperons were Mrs A.B. Hopcroft (black jewelled net over taffeta) Mrs D. W. Templeton ( teal mirror nylon), Mrs E. McCulloch (black net over Ming blue taffeta) and Mrs T. Muntz (figured blue brocade).  Mr Ross Stuart was master of ceremonies.
The following debutantes danced the St. Bernard Waltz after being presented:
Raewyn Arthur., Rowena Cleaver., Margaret Collis., Shona Hopcroft., Robynne Hopcroft., Jeannette McDonald., Shona Mulqueen., Jeanette Stuart. They were wearing..........
