David Welsh wins first Gore Club Tournament in 1976......

Gore Squash Club's tournament in 1976 was won by Joy Mackenzie and David Welsh.  It was the club's first ever tournament which attracted a big card.
In the women's grade Joy Mackenzie beat Julie Tattershaw 3-1, and Yvonne Browne beat Joan Delahunt 3-0.
The final between Mackenzie and Browne was a four setter with Mackenzie taking the first two 9-1, 9-7 then giving one away 3-9, before fighting back and winning the fourth 10-9.
David Welsh was dominant in the men's section, beating Peter Browne 3-0, in the semi final.  The other semi was between Alistair Martin and Dave Carr with the former winning 3-2.
In the final Welsh never looked threatened and won 9-1,9-3,9-4.
There were two plates played for in each grade and Judy Bryce won the first section while Gwen Balloch won the second.
In the men's section it was John Anderson and Robert Tattershaw.
