It was all about family in 1983 at the Glengarry Amateur Cycling Club.  The B Grade division saw Rex Randall, Lyn Randall and Kit Randall complete the first three places.

Barry Harcourt and his son Stephen Harcourt dominated the A grade.
Stephen Harcourt was on fire and took hold of the lead forcing Murray Hewitt and Clarke Ferguson back in the field. With the terrible conditions though Stephen Harcourt had a sickening fall and his father managed to catch him and they had only Wayne McLellan chasing.
Stephen managed to outpace his father and won in a time of 1.06.55. (20 laps)
In the B grade race, Rex Randall raced most of the circuit on his own and in his wake he had Duncan Broone and Lyn Randall.
Lyn Randall and Rex Broone did their best to chase Rex down but Broone suffered a puncture in the second last round which counted  him out. Rex won in a time of 43.39 (12 laps)
The novice race A grade was cycled over 24 kilometres and this was won by Jason Harcourt with Jason Clarke runner up.
The B grade raced over 16 kilometres was won by Gary Smith who was in his first year of racing.
Glen McLeay, managed second place after falling on one of the corners.

I remember those days when the Harcourts dominated the cycling in Invercargill My father use to talk about it. I found a little article that he had kept which said that Stephen Harcourt had won his fourth successive race when he outsprinted a bunch of 10 riders in the Central Southland Lodge cycling handicap in .........
Murray Hewitt was a close second with Eric Malcolm taking third place. Mike Hughes battled on for fourth place, ahead of scratch rider Wayne McLellan, and middle marker Alan Milne.
