Women's Division Meetings from 1957

Notes of Sub-branches of Women's Division meeting from 1957 - These include, Fairfax, Winton, Mossburn, and Glenham for the June meetings.
FAIRFAX; The president Mrs Muir, welcomed a fair attendance of members at the June meeting.  Mrs Swain gave a report on the annual meeting, and members bought gifts of jam for Kind-Haven.  The roll call an "early photo of yourself" was interesting especially those of the older members.  Mrs Officer gave an interesting demonstration on making paper flowers and sponge rubber posies.  Mrs Nicholson gave a vote of thanks.  Hostesses were Mesdames Swain and Sinclair.  
Competition results were parsnips - Mesdames Carmichael and Swain (1 equal), Herbison (2), Officer (3).  Single Bloom, Mesdames Herbison (1) and Swain (2) and Peat (3).
WINTON: Mrs G. Crawford resided over a small attendance.  The roll-call and a book review 'of not more than three minutes duration' met with good response.  No decision was made about sending a delegate to Dominion conference in July.  The president regretted that she would be unable to make the trip.  The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs J. Reid. of Dipton who outlined her work over the last two years as Southland provincial president.  She answered questions relating to Women's Division activities.  Competitions were as follows; Bloom - Mesdames Gould and McKenzie (1 =) , Bryce, (2), article from waste material Miss Gibson (1) and Mrs W. Campbell (2).
MOSSBURN: It was decided by the committee that a garden party be held in December to raise funds.  The meeting was presided over Mrs Pears and it was decided the organising and entertainment to be discussed at a later meeting.  A report on the executive meeting in Invercargill was given to the president.  The treatment of certain diseases, before the advent of anti-biotics was recalled by Mrs Powell during her nursing career. "When, Where and How Married" was well responded to roll call which caused great amusement.  Competition - Bloom - Miss Taylor (1 & 2) Mrs Russell (3).
GLENHAM: Mrs J. R Rabbidge presided over a good attendance, who congratulated Mrs J. Howe on her election as the vice-president of the Southland Provincial Executive.  Reports on the Southern Area meeting at Gorge Road, were given by Mr W. McBride, and the annual Southland Provincial meeting and the Mimihau Institute birthday party was given by Mrs J. Howe.  The roll call was a "job I dislike doing". A demonstration on the use of a knitting machine was given by Mr Rodgers and he was thanked by Mrs B. Hunter.  Competition- three scones Mrs J. Bell (1), Miss A. McKenzie(2) and Mrs B. Hunter (3).  Best Bloom - Mrs N.A. Peters (1), Miss . A. McKenzie (2)Mrs J. Maxwell (3) - Berried shrub - J. Howe (1), F. Bulling (2) and W. McBride (3).
