1970 and Mr J.H. Scholefield still playing tennis after 36 years.

Thirty six years of tennis and still going strong, that is what Mr J.H. Scholefield, an Invercargill lawyer has achieved.
His long association with tennis started in 1934 and has played in Invercargill since 1939.
In his more serious playing days he played for Waihopai club which has recognised his services by making him a life member.
He represented Southland against Dunedin in 1942.  Recently elected patron of the Southland Lawn Tennis Association, and was treasurer from 1939 until 1945.  He then became president and held that position until 1959.
His association with the sport has also included umpiring for ten years where he holds an umpiring badge.
Nationally his dedication to the sport has been recognised and was a vice president of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association for ten years.
Mr Scholefield still plays tennis all year round and is never short of a player as there is a keen group of approx 16.
