1933 Softball upset in Invercargill - Panthers down Demons.

The upset defeat of Demons by the "wooden spooners" Panthers during last Saturdays matches will place a great importance on next week fixtures.  Demons (12) Cardinals (10) and Blue Sox (8) is how the competition is looking.

Demons will meet Blue Sox in the finals series of this round, while Cardinals with four successive wins will be playing against Panthers.
who opened their points with their shock win over Demons. Wins for Blue Sox and Demons would tie the competition up with Demons and the Collegiate nine each holding 12 points.  Should this eventuate the game between these two good teams would provide great softball.
Demons started the season in grand style, winning all their games in the first two rounds of the competition, but have failed against Cardinals and Panthers in the third round fixtures.
Probably the keenest club in the competition, Demons, have been training regularly all season and the recent display of pitching star Bill Boyer hint that he may have become stale after a strenuous season.  The hostility that marked his deliveries before the Xmas recess has waned in recent games.  Saturday may see him return to his best to carry Demons to a win over Blue Sox which would guarantee the club their first win in the Calder Mackay Shield.
