Next week the Invercargill Repertory Society will represent the first of their four scheduled productions for the year. The chosen play is "Born Yesterday" by Garson Karin. While the author's name may not be familar the title will revise memories of one of the most successful screen plays in the past decade. A.R. Dunlop who is producing the play has assembled a cast of experienced actors.
Headed by Marie Redshaw as "Billie Dawn", a typical American dump blonde, playing opposite her is Rowland Redshaw as "Harry Brock", Billies man and a hard case millionaire.
Assisting Harry in his nefarious scenes are "Ed Devery" played by Wilf Cannings, and "Senator Hedges" played by Geoff Hall-Jones.
Jim Fenton as "Paul Verrad" has a somewhat different interest in the proceedings, an interest which centres for the most part on Billie.
Other parts are played by Glenys Phillips, Shirley Bradshaw, Bob Middlemass, Owen Gerrard and William Bell.
"Born Yesterday" was first produced in New York in 1946 and since then has been causing laughter right around the world.
