Woodlands beat Southern Star in 1961...

Woodlands beat Southern Star 18-0 at Niagara in 1961.  S. Findlay led the seven-man Woodlands pack well, but Star without the services of Peter Hayes lacked a leader.
Woodland lost W. McCormack early in the game when he was ordered off for an irregular tackle.
P. Knight and  W. Fleming played well for Woodlands and G. Stronach turned up for Star.

Pioneer still top of the Table with close win over Albion...1961

It was a closer game than the score of 17-8 and Albion showed a dominant forward pack that pushed Pioneer all round the field.  It was only in the last quarter that McMeeken for Pioneer showed his class by linking up with the forwards.  They managed to pile on 11 quick points which was a disappointment for Albion's hard work.

Gorge Road and Seaward Downs meet...1961

It was an uninspiring game in 1961 between Gorge Road and Seaward Downs.  The latter won 11-0 with both sides playing ragged football and missed many scoring opportunities.
B. Mackay and R. Monteith for Gorge Road and B. Iddles and J. Carter for Seaward Downs shone in the forwards and A. Ferguson played well for SD backs.
