The Mataura Squash Courts were open in 1973, with 100 people showing interest in taking out membership.
Financed solely by Mr Doug Pope, a bricklayer, and Mr Alistair  McLennan, a freezing worker both of Mataura, the building contains one court, a mens and womens changing rooms, an upstair gallery and a social room.

There is also room for another court and sauna to be added at a later date.
