Central Pirates beat Ohai in 1971 - 9-3. Central Pirates lost their captain, Donald Lindsay in the first half and Ohai also lost one of their best forwards in Barry Sayers.
Pirates stopped Gary Palmer and Billy Steel in their tracks, but when they did get the chance did not get the support needed.
Ohai's taller pack dominated lineouts with Aaron Clark dominating in the middle, and had support from Dave Ramshaw who led the tight.
The outstanding player for Central Pirates was loose forward, Murray Gray.
Forrester Gray and Maurice Lake, ran strongly at second five eight and centre, with the latter scoring a great individual try when he kicked the ball ahead from his own 25 to score.
Central Pirates: K. Rolf, F. Norman, (1), R. Norman (1Pg)
Ohai: Billy Steel (1).
